Non-Discrimination
Policy
Johns Community Hospital shall provide care for patients without
discrimination, including, but not necessarily limited to, the
following:
- Patients will
be treated and/or admitted and assigned to rooms without regard
to race, color, religion, ancestry, sexual orientation, age,
national origin or handicap.
- Patients will
not be asked if they desire or are willing to share a room with
a patient of another denomination or race, thereby the transfer
of a patient to another room shall not be interpreted as
discrimination.
- Employees,
volunteers and medical staff will be assigned to patients
regardless of race, color, religion, ancestry, sexual
orientation, age, or national origin.
- All patients
will receive the same level of care based on their diagnosis,
treatment needs, care planning and all other aspects of patient
care.
Medical staff privileges will not be denied or removed from
professionally qualified personnel on the basis of race, religion,
color, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, national origin or
handicap.
Employment will not be denied or conditioned on the basis of race,
religion, color, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, age,
national origin or handicap. Training programs sponsored by or
carried on at Johns Community Hospital shall be without
discrimination.
Any person, patients, visitor or employee who feels that they have
been discriminated against in regards to admission or access to
treatment or employment in any of the hospital’s activities or
programs should report the circumstances to the Chief Executive
Officer at 512-352-4215, who using appropriate means and channels,
will enforce the above stated policies.
These statements are in accordance with the provisions of Title VI
of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation
Act of 1973, the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, and Regulations of
the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issued pursuant to
the Acts, Title 45 Code of Federal Regulations Part 80, 64, and 01.
(Other Federal Laws and Regulations provide similar protection
against discrimination on grounds of sex and creed.)
